Last week marked the end of a 6 year chapter in my life. A chapter that saw the birth of both my children, my marriage, my brief experience in college, the birth and death of my first business, and countless other milestones. Through all of these things, I was employed at the same place of business. As of last Tuesday, I am no longer employed by anyone other than myself.
This marks the start of a more fulfilling curricular journey. Everything that I have done in the past year has moved me toward the goal of self-employment. I can honestly say that I was not fully prepared to start this soon, but life has a way of forcing decisions on you. So, here I am. Nicholas Steimling: Illustrator, Graphic Designer, and My Own Boss. I look forward with great enthusiasm to what the future has in store for myself and my small family.
I think it fitting that I am posting my first entry to my new Blog on the early Monday morning of my first week as a Freelance Illustrator. This post symbolizes the culmination of two years of hard work and dedication to becoming a better artist. Here will be the launch pad of my new career where you will be able to find out what I am doing at any given time, and possibly help me along the way. You will be able to view my work, read tutorials and papers I have written, learn of any contests in which I might be participating, hear about events in my life, and much more.
Being as that you have ended up here probably means that you are a friend of mine. I’d like to thank you for your support now and in the future. I wouldn’t be anywhere without the great group of people that surround me. You’re all tops.
